How do I balance the play-along track volume with the drums?

To adjust the volume of the Pattern and/or the sounds from the Kit that you are playing, follow the steps suggested below:

Adjusting Pattern Volume

    • Double-press the PATTERN button.
    • Use the +/- buttons to adjust the pattern level.

Adjusting the Kit Volume

    • Double-press the chosen Kit button.
    • Adjust the level with the +/- buttons
    • The setting will save automatically after 4 seconds.


Does the Alesis DM Lite module require drivers to be used with a computer?

No drivers are necessary!  The Alesis DM Lite module is a plug-and-play class-compliant device that needs no external drivers to be installed.  Simply connect it to your computer with a USB cable, open up your favorite drum software, choose the device, and go!

If there are any questions on whether or not the Alesis DM Lite module has connected and is being read correctly by your computer, there are some simple tests that can be performed to make sure.  The easiest is what we call the "10-second is-it-broken? test". 

To verify that the device is working, and is being seen by the computer…

    1. On Windows XP, Vista, or 7, open the Device Manager.
    2. Disconnect the controller from the computer, count to 5, then reconnect the controller
      Does the list of devices at all change, refresh, or flash? If yes…Good, the product is recognized by the computer.

If the product does pass the test above, it is not defective, and the difficulty is caused by misconfigured software settings or options.  Carefully follow the setup instructions for the software you are using, or contact Technical Support for assistance.

If the product does NOT pass the test above, it could be defective, or it could be that other factors are causing the symptoms.

Can the Alesis DM Lite module send audio to the computer?

There is a USB/MIDI connection for use with virtual instruments and recording software. This connections allow for the passing of MIDI information only.  If you want to send the actual audio from the module to your computer, connect the main audio outputs from the rear of the module directly to the inputs of your audio interface.


If I need to replace any of the individual parts on the kit, are they available for purchase separately?
