In this article we the setup a Mixtrack Quad with Virtual DJ LE and cover important optimization tips for your computer to ensure optimum performance.

Minimum System Requirements

In order to ensure the best performance possible, the computer being used must meet the minimum system requirements. The requirements include operating system, processor, RAM, and screen resolution. These requirements are posted on the box when purchasing the Numark controller and on the product page. If these requirements are not met, the probability you may experience poor performance is high. This poor performance includes but is not limited to; Virtual DJ LE freezing and crashing, audio latency, audio dropouts, and even poor audio quality.

Computer Optimization

You can’t walk into a car dealership and buy a car that’s ready to enter a race. Even high-performance sports cars come tuned for the road, not the race track. Suspension, gearing, timing all need to be tweaked before a car is ready to be pushed to it’s limits.

The same is true of computers. While most new computers will perform well right out of the box, whether you buy a Mac, or a PC, you still have some work to do before you’ll see your new computer perform to it’s maximum potential. Recording and mixing music is one of the most demanding tasks you can ask of your computer, sometimes more taxing than professional graphics and video work.

To ensure that your computer is ready to handle the CPU power required to perform at its best, Use this article to take the necessary measures to optimize your system for maximum recording performance, prevent audio-dropouts and manage latency: Optimizing Your Computer For DJ Performance

Playback issues when using external hard drives

Poor performance, delays, and dropouts that occur while accessing or loading songs can be due to the following causes:

    • Hard disk being set to 'sleep' or turn off after a period of time.
    • Using and external hard disk or thumb drive that is too slow and does not have fast enough access times.

For more information about external hard disk performance, see the Virtual DJ article below:
