How to Assign an Audio Interface as a Default Playback Device on Mac and Windows

USB IconYour USB Audio Interface can be set as your default audio device to allow you to listen to content on your computer through your interface! This guide will show you how to set your interface as your default device on a Mac or Windows computer.

Please Note: This article will be using the M-Track 2x2M as an example. Please look for the name of your device when choosing your audio interface as the default playback device.

Setting your Interface as a Default Playback Device for Windows 

  1. When your Interface is connected, right click the speaker icon in the bottom right corner of your task bar, and select Playback devices.

    Alternatively, you can also go to your Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound

  2. Right click on your Audio Interface and set as Default

Your interface is now set as your default playback device!

 

Setting your Interface as a Default Playback Device for Mac 

  1.  When your Interface is connected, hold down the Option Key on your keyboard and Click on the sound icon in your task bar.

    Alternatively, you can also go to your System Preferences > Sound

  2.  Select the Audio Interface as your Playback Device.

    Your Interface is now set as your default Playback device!
